Marche International de Rungis

The Marche International de Rungis is located at Rungis, south of Paris, and opened in 1969 to replace the old central Les Halles market. Covering 234 hectares with about 1,200 companies, it is one of the largest fresh-food wholesale hubs in the world, supplying fresh produce for around a quarter of France's population. It trades at night across seafood, meat and poultry, fruit and vegetables, cheese, flowers and processed foods.

Rungis wholesales a full range of fresh and processed foods, with temperature-controlled logistics and food inspection on site. For Chinese exporters of food, seafood, fruit, vegetables and condiments, it is the highest-level platform for entering the French and European food-service and retail system. Because Rungis sets the price reference for much of the French food market, suppliers can test product acceptance at a highly professional level, and the many importers on site handle goods across the European Union.
