Souq Al-Mubarakiya is Kuwait City's oldest traditional market, with a history of more than two hundred years. Its network of alleys sells spices, textiles, perfumes, dried fruits, traditional garments and household sundries, making it the signature mixed wholesale and retail souk of the old Sharq commercial quarter. It remains a living trading place frequented by local shoppers and small buyers.
Kept in a traditional Arabian courtyard layout, the souk mixes spice, cloth and dried-fruit wholesalers with retail stalls serving neighborhood shops and gift buyers. For Chinese exporters of light textiles, general goods and spice-food products, it is a window onto Kuwait's traditional wholesale and retail channels. Its overall tone is retail, so large-volume deals should be made directly with the traders based in the quarter.
