Mercabarna

Mercabarna lies in Barcelona's Zona Franca area and opened in 1971 with its central fruit and vegetable market. By trading volume it is one of Europe's largest fresh-food wholesale markets, gathering around 550 specialized companies in fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat and poultry and frozen goods. It operates around the clock and serves Catalonia and the broader Mediterranean coastal region.

The park wholesales fruit, vegetables, seafood and frozen foods, with import customs and cold-chain logistics on site. For Chinese food exporters, it is an important gateway into northeastern Spain and the broader southern European market, and a place to meet regional fresh-food importers who distribute to supermarkets and restaurants. Because it sits near the port of Barcelona, imported goods can move from container to wholesale hall with short inland travel time.
