Central Mayorista de Antioquia (La Mayorista)

The Central Mayorista de Antioquia — known locally as La Mayorista — is located in Itagüí, within the Medellín metropolitan area. It is one of the most important agri-food wholesale businesses in western Colombia, concentrating storage, wholesaling and logistics for fruit, vegetables, grains, meat and fish. Lorries arrive in the early morning hours, and the market supplies restaurants, supermarkets and small retailers across the Antioquia region; after modernisation it combines an operational wholesale park with a well-known food hall.

La Mayorista functions as the price-forming warehouse wholesale hub of the Antioquia region, designed for vehicles rather than pedestrians. Chinese exporters of food-processing and cold-chain machinery, packaging and food ingredients can use it as the representative wholesale node for inland northern Colombia. Business visits require early-morning scheduling and pre-arranged access with the market administration, which also runs visitor and gastronomy tours.
