Does a commercial meat grinder need overload protection?
Overload protection is a must on a commercial grinder. Tough sinew, frozen chunks or sudden overfeeding can spike current within seconds, and relying on the operator to react usually ends with a burnt motor or stripped gears. Before ordering, pin down the protection type — thermal relay, electronic module or VFD current limiting — and obtain the trip threshold, delay setting and reset mode, whether manual or automatic. Skip the dangerous trick of jamming the auger; instead run sinewy trim continuously, note the feed volume at each trip and how long recovery takes, then lock those figures into the specification.
