Why should the feed motor of a slicer be evaluated separately?
The feed motor never touches the blade, yet it governs how evenly product advances and stops, so slice thickness repeatability largely rests on it. Before buying, establish motor type, speed range and rated load, then check whether long strips slip during continuous feeding. Run trials at both low and high feed rates, measuring thickness scatter and watching for drift at the tail end. With automatic stacking, verify that the feed position signal interlocks correctly with blade timing. Tracking feed mechanism vibration and wander separately during routine checks will flag trouble earlier than an annual overhaul.
