How should spare-parts stocking be specified for commercial heating elements?
Stock commercial heating elements by downtime risk: count units in service, daily running hours and mean time between failures, then size safety stock as annual replacement rate times supplier lead time. Hold one or two sets for critical positions and shareable spares elsewhere. Label each item with wattage, voltage, sheath diameter and material, surface loading, thread and mounting location, and check IP rating and thermostat compatibility. Where site voltage, water quality or heat dissipation differs from the nameplate, reconfirm by measured current, sheath temperature and hot insulation resistance, and ask the supplier for heated length and cold-end dimensions before substituting on appearance alone; after fitting, retest insulation and grounding.
