How should multi-zone control be specified for industrial heating elements?

Zone count should be based on chamber length, door heat losses and workpiece loading density, typically keeping each zone within three to five times the effective heated length of the elements. Specify power, sheath diameter, material and watt density per zone; high-temperature zones may need heat-resistant alloys while lower zones can use stainless steel. Provide independent sensing and power regulation per zone with 15 to 20 percent reserve capacity. Place sensors away from terminals, tube ends and stagnant airflow, with insertion depth about eight to ten times the protection tube diameter, and match wiring and IP rating to on-site dust and humidity. Ask the supplier for per-zone heat-balance calculations and thermal coupling test data, then verify heat-up rate, steady-state deviation, cold insulation resistance and freedom from cross-zone interference on acceptance.
