The Janghanpyeong used-car and auto-parts market lies in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, founded in 1979 when used-car dealers and parts merchants moved here from Euljiro and Jongno 3-ga. It is Korea's largest automotive aftermarket cluster, with around 1,700 companies, including about 1,100 new-parts dealers and 220 used or remanufactured-parts shops, employing some 5,400 people; new-parts turnover is reported near one trillion won a year. Seoul is redeveloping the site into an auto-industry complex, and the market continues to operate while facilities are modernised.
The cluster wholesales new parts, used and remanufactured parts, engines, body panels and repair and tuning supplies, serving Korean repair shops, used-car dealers and parts retailers, with some traders handling exports. For Chinese auto-parts manufacturers, it is a first-tier wholesale hub for entering the Korean aftermarket and studying the remanufactured-parts and tuning segments, where both competitive price and formal parts certification matter greatly.
