Can the motor voltage of a meat grinder be changed on site?

Whether voltage can be switched on site depends on the motor itself. Some dual-voltage units allow it by re-strapping the terminal block or altering the winding connection, yet many grinders are built for one voltage only, and any change affects contactors, thermal protection and VFD ratings. Obtain the manufacturer's written statement of permissible voltage range and rewiring conditions before ordering; for export projects, freeze the final electrical specification prior to production. Rewiring must be done by a qualified electrician, followed by insulation and no-load testing. Accept the machine based on current draw and temperature rise while grinding frozen meat at the nameplate voltage.
