Can slicer bearings be washed directly with water?

Bearings on a slicer are not automatically off-limits to water, but it depends on location: housings, motors and electrical boxes normally need protection, while exposed frames and trays can often be hosed down if their IP rating and seals suit it. Have the builder mark washable and no-water zones on the drawing, state the approved cleaning method, and if a pressure washer is planned, verify the bearing seals handle that pressure; then watch an operator clean the machine the way production actually does. After installation, log bearing teardowns and temperature rise after each wash — a spike signals water ingress or lost grease, telling you when to switch to spot wiping or add shielding.
