Feed opening size hinges on the largest meat chunk, how operators load it, and the guarding layout. Bigger chunks call for a wider throat, otherwise pre-cutting labour climbs, yet too wide a mouth complicates fitting a grid or hand guard. Give the supplier your maximum chunk dimensions and whether a pusher or hopper is used, and check the inlet height suits manual feeding. If an elevator follows, align discharge height, port position and line tempo. Run a continuous-feed trial to measure net output per hour and chunk pass-through, then lock the machine configuration accordingly.
